GCSF Scholarship Winner Natalie Alcide on Print, Design, and Industry Mentors

My most recent post at Print Media Centr features an interview I conducted with Graphic Communications Scholarship Winner and City Tech valedictorian, Natalie Alcide. In my mind this post feels connected to my previous column about meeting an old friend in the Printerverse in that they were both written to connect specific people with opportunities and resources in this space. I feel good about that.

I heard Natalie speak while attending the “Spring Fling” fundraiser hosted by the Graphic Communications Scholarship Foundation (GCSF). Held at the “Chocolate Factory” on the Oglivy and Mather rooftop, the Spring Fling was an opportunity to celebrate students like Natalie as well as the network of professionals who serve as their mentors.

In addition to financial scholarships, GCSF provides graphic communications students in the New York region with opportunities to obtain direct experience and exposure across disciplines in graphic communication, printing, and publishing. Students visit companies, work internships, attend events, tour manufacturing operations, and most significantly meet and learn from established professionals.

Check it out on Print Media Centr. Also, I handled social media for the Spring Fling event; visit the APC-NYC Facebook page to see some pics.
